14th Edition of Kodagu Family Cup Concludes: Sponsored by the Malchira Family

14th Edition of Kodagu Family Golf Championship, was held over two days on January 10 and 11, 2026, witnessing keen competition and spirited participation by golfers across various categories. The Family Cup tournament is held each year at COORG GOLF LINKS(CGL), Bittangala. This year the Malchira Family sponsored the tournament.

C.B. Muthanna, the Captain of CGL welcomed the gathering and thanked the Malchira family for their sponsorship in a befitting manner.

In the Team Gross Stroke Play (0–18) category, Mr. Ganesh Mahindra and Mr. K.P. Ranjith emerged winners with a score of 157, while the Team Kanjithanda, comprising Mr. K.K. Chengappa and Mr. K.U. Vikranth, secured the runner-up position.

The Team Handicap Stroke Play (0–18) title was won by Team Codanda, represented by Mr. C.B. Muthanna and Mr. C.A. Bopaiah, who returned a score of 150. The runner-up honours went to Team Chenanda, Mr. C.P. Cariappa and Col. C.M. Appaya, also with a score of 150, with the final standings decided as per tournament rules.

In the Individual Gross Stroke Play, Varun Ganapathy claimed the winner’s title with a score of 76, while Mr. Mali Sashi Kiran finished as runner-up, also scoring 76.

The Individual Handicap Stroke Play (0–18) category saw A.V.M. Nanjappa B.C. clinch the top spot with a score of 68, followed by Mr. M.G. Bopanna with 69.

In the Individual Handicap Stableford (19–24) event, Maj. B.A. Nanjappa won the title with 39 points, while Mr. Poonacha C.K. finished runner-up with 38 points.

Among senior categories, Dr. T.N. Achaiah won the Senior Citizen Handicap Stableford (0–24) with 35 points, while Maj. Gen. S.K. Kariappa emerged winner in the Super Senior Citizen Handicap Stableford (0–24) category.
In the Women’s Net Stableford (0–24) event, Ms. Alisha Thimmaiah secured first place with 29 points.

Several special prizes were also awarded. Mr. C.B. Muthanna won the Straightest Drive award with a drive measuring 2 inches off the line. Mr. Nikhil Poovaiah was honoured for recording the maximum number of pars (12). The Closest to the Pin award went to Mr. M.G. Bopanna, with a distance of 3 feet 8 inches, while Varun Ganapathy also bagged the prize for the maximum number of birdies, finishing with three birdies.

The tournament concluded on a high note, celebrating sporting spirit, precision, and camaraderie among the golfers.
