Kodagu’s young boxer Likhith Chinnappa has clinched a bronze medal at the ongoing National School Games Championship being held in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, marking a significant achievement for the district at the national level.
Likhith put up an impressive performance, winning three consecutive bouts against opponents from Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. His campaign came to a close in the semi-finals, where he suffered a narrow defeat by a split 3–2 decision.
Likhith’s twin brother, Lekhak, was also in action at the championship but was unfortunate to lose his opening bout by a close 3–2 split decision to his opponent from Arunachal Pradesh.

The bronze medal is the result of sustained effort, rigorous training and perseverance, reflecting the physical and emotional challenges inherent in the sport. Likhith’s success is seen as part of a long sporting journey that traces its roots back several decades, beginning with early boxing initiatives at institutions such as the Bangalore Military School.
Sports enthusiasts and boxing supporters in Kodagu expressed confidence that Likhith Chinnappa’s achievement will serve as an inspiration to other young boxers from the district to pursue excellence and aim for national and international success.
