Training Programme Highlights Role of Cooperatives in Rural Development

The contribution of cooperative societies to rural development is immense and further efforts are needed to strengthen them, said Kodandera Bond Ganapathy, President of the District Cooperative Central Bank.

He was speaking at the valedictory session of a week-long training programme on ‘Effective Management of Cooperative Societies’ organised for newly elected directors of primary agricultural credit cooperative societies at the Unnathi Bhavan auditorium.

Bond Ganapathy stressed the importance of quality management, continuous learning and familiarity with cooperative laws and amendments. He noted that 518 directors from 74 primary agricultural cooperatives participated in the programme.

Several experts spoke on cooperative laws, governance, audits and financial regulations. Training certificates were distributed to all participants. DCC Bank office-bearers and officials were present.
