The Indian Armed Forces have announced recruitment under the Agnipath scheme, offering around 46,000 vacancies for the post of Agniveer across the country. The scheme is open to candidates who have passed Class 8, 10 or 12, with an age limit of 17 to 23 years.
According to official details, selected Agniveers will undergo a four-year tenure with the Army, Navy or Air Force. During this period, they will receive a monthly salary ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000, along with benefits such as professional military training, uniforms, food, accommodation and medical facilities.
The cumulative earnings over four years are estimated at around Rs 11.7 lakh, while a severance package of approximately Rs 11.7 lakh will be paid at the end of the tenure, taking the total financial package to over Rs 23 lakh, as per the scheme guidelines.
Selection will be based on physical and medical tests, and applications must be submitted online through the respective recruitment portals of the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Officials said that after completion of the four-year term, Agniveers will gain access to employment opportunities in various central and state forces, public sector undertakings, and private organisations. A 10 per cent reservation has also been announced for Agniveers in certain defence civilian posts, Coast Guard vacancies and defence public sector units.
