K.P. Ranjith Shines in the 21st Edition
The 21st edition of the Sakhamuri Golf Championship 2025 concluded at Mercara Downs Golf Club with an impressive performance across categories, drawing enthusiastic participation from golfers of all ages. The championship, known for its competitive spirit and sporting camaraderie, witnessed several notable victories this year.
In the Open Event category, the prestigious Rolling Trophy was won by K.P. Ranjith, who emerged as the overall winner. Mali Shashikiran secured the runner-up position. Both, Ranjith and Shashikiran – tied at 72 Gross. K. P. Ranjith emerged as the winner in the better second half score.
The championship concluded with a prize distribution ceremony that celebrated both seasoned golfers and emerging talents, marking the 21st edition as a memorable sporting event. Captain of the Mercara Downs Golf Club, Muthanna Cariappa, welcomed the gathering and thanked the Sakhamuri Brothers for sponsoring the tournament consistently and graciously for 21 years.
Nagarjun Sakhamuri addressed the gathering and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the tournament in the future. Prizes were distributed by Nagarjun Sakhamuri, Prasanth Sakhamuri, and Muthanna Cariappa. The results were announced by D. G. Kishore, Tournament Committee Member.
On the dais were Roy Chengappa, Tournament Committee Chairman; Hon. Secretary Devi Poonacha; and Treasurer Bopanna, who presided over the event.

In the Handicap Stableford 0-12 (Rolling Trophy) segment, K.U. Vikranth took top honours, while Sanjay H.L finished as runner-up.
The Handicap Stableford 13-24 category saw K.N. Appanna clinch first place, with M.N. Somaiah taking the runner-up spot.
Among senior golfers aged 65 years and above, K.M. Harish Appanna emerged victorious in the Seniors Stableford (Full Handicap) category, followed by M.A. Poonacha in second place.
In the Doubles Handicap Stableford (0-24) section, the team of K.N. Appanna and Sanjay H.L lifted the winners’ trophy, while the pair M.A. Poonacha and D.G. Kishor finished runners-up.
The Ladies Handicap Stableford category saw Swetha Ramu secure the winner’s title, with Mrinalini finishing as runner-up.
Special skill prizes were also awarded. K.P. Ranjith won the Closest to the Pin contest on the 2nd hole with a remarkable shot landing 19.7 inches from the pin. The Longest Drive on the 9th hole was recorded by Akhil Muthanna, who powered an impressive 315-yard drive.
