The Codava National Council (CNC) held a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Madikeri, demanding the creation of Codavaland, geopolitical autonomy,
self-governance, and internal self-determination for the indigenous Kodava community.

Led by CNC President N.U. Nachappa, protesters raised slogans in support of Codavaland. The group demanded constitutional protection for the traditional Kodava gun (thok) under Articles 25 and 26, ST status for the Kodava people, inclusion of the Kodava language in the Eighth Schedule, and representation for Kodavas in political bodies.

Their memorandum also called for recognition of Kodava folk heritage by UNESCO, legal personality status for the river Cauvery, and the declaration of Talakaveri as a sacred pilgrimage centre for the Kodava community.
The petition was submitted to the President, Prime Minister, Home Minister, and other senior leaders through the Kodagu District Administration.
