Speaking at a press conference in Madikeri, Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Uma Reddy, the first woman to head the organization in its 109-year history, said that women are increasingly taking part in various industries under the Chamber’s guidance.
She announced that several initiatives are being launched to encourage women entrepreneurs and provide them with guidance and mentorship. An International Women Entrepreneurs Conference will be held in Bengaluru on November 19, showcasing tourism, art, and culture, with the objective of inspiring the next generation of women entrepreneurs.
Uma Reddy stated that there are currently 7.5 lakh entrepreneurs across Karnataka, of whom 90 percent are small-scale entrepreneurs. The number is expected to rise to 10 lakh in the coming years, she said, adding that the Chamber itself is being digitized to meet modern requirements.
She also revealed that a separate website will soon be launched to connect students with employment opportunities matching their skills and qualifications. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and industry by linking young graduates with relevant career options.
A brochure outlining the future plans of the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry was released on the occasion.
KCCI Senior Vice President T. Sai Ram Prasad and Kodagu District Director Girish Ganapathy were present at the press meet.
