Manav Bandhutva Vedike’s Kodagu District Convener J.L. Janardhan, Somwarpet Taluk Convener M.S. Veerendra, and District Convener of the Women’s Wing Dr. Kaveri H.M. lodged a complaint with the Kodagu Superintendent of Police against a person named Ramesh Katti from Bellada Bagewadi taluk, alleging that he used objectionable language against the Valmiki community during the DCC Bank elections.

The complaint stated that during the election process at a school ground, Ramesh Katti insulted the Valmiki community, which has faced oppression for centuries, thereby deeply hurting the sentiments of more than 75 lakh people belonging to the community across Karnataka.

It further alleged that Ramesh Katti had behaved similarly during the Hukkeri Electricity Board elections and has been repeatedly insulting the Valmiki community. The complaint also stated that by creating feelings of superiority and inferiority within society, he has insulted both the Valmiki community and the Constitution framed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

The organization demanded that a case be registered against him under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for hurting the sentiments of the Scheduled Castes.
