The annual general meeting and get-together of the Alumni Association of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College, Madikeri, will be held on November 16. The association’s president, Bollajira B. Aiyappa, has appealed to all alumni to participate in large numbers, become members, and help make the event a grand success.
Addressing a press conference in Madikeri, Aiyappa said that an educational institution is akin to a temple, and every student should take pride in their alma mater. He stressed that students are the future of the nation and, with proper education, guidance, and opportunities, can contribute significantly to national progress. He urged former students of the college to support the institution’s growth by enrolling as members.
The new board of directors has launched a membership drive, with over 100 new members joining in the past year. Alumni can remit their membership fee directly to the association’s bank account and send the payment details to the secretary, Chandan Nandarabettu (WhatsApp: 8762632314), or vice-president, Bottangada Ganapathy (WhatsApp: 8123083869). Membership can also be availed on the day of the event.
To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College, established in 1949, several initiatives have been undertaken in collaboration with the Parents-Teachers Association, Creative Khalil of Madikeri, and Hendrik Martin G. of Alpha Technologies. A billboard and selfie point have been inaugurated on the college premises, and a digital library and sports equipment worth ?24,700 have been provided to support student activities.
Various programmes have been planned, including a lecture on “Scope of Photojournalism and Job Opportunities” for journalism students and a workshop on career guidance for final-year students. Aiyappa said that with donor support, more developmental projects can be executed.

Secretary Chandan Nandarabettu announced that the November 16 event will begin at 10 a.m. in the college auditorium under the chairmanship of President Bollajira B. Aiyappa. Chief guests include Prof. P.L. Dharma, Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University; Prof. Ashoka S. Alura, Vice-Chancellor of Kodagu University; and Major Prof. B. Raghav, Principal of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College.
Students and lecturers who have excelled academically and in sports, including Monisha Rai (B.Sc.), K.M. Breton Mathew (M.A. English), Sahana C.K. (M.A. Kodava), sportspersons Mohammed Shahil, Gadela Gayatri, M.D. Kavyashree, Seema Anand Power, and NCC achievers M.R. Hemat, will be honoured.
Principal and Honorary President Prof. Major B. Raghav said that the Old Students’ Association plays a vital role in the all-round development of the college, which has completed 75 years. The association actively participates in academic and extracurricular initiatives and works toward shaping responsible citizens. He noted that the college has recently come under Kodagu University, which continues to support its development.
Vice-President Bottangada Ganapathy highlighted that the Alumni Association has conducted several programmes, including workshops on career guidance and training for competitive exams. He said that with collective participation, developmental work can progress smoothly.
