A preliminary meeting to plan the Kannada Rajyotsava celebration was held at the office hall of the Deputy Commissioner in Madikeri, under the chairmanship of Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Dr. Venkat Raja. The meeting resolved to organize the Kannada Rajyotsava on November 1 in a meaningful and well-coordinated manner.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials from various departments to organize the celebrations systematically, similar to last year.
The main event will be held at the General Thimmaiah District Stadium in Madikeri. The DC directed the Municipal Commissioner and the Sports Department officials to ensure that the stadium is maintained in good condition.
He further instructed the concerned engineers to construct the waterproof stage slightly higher than last year and to provide adequate seating arrangements for dignitaries, guests, media representatives, and others.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that students from various schools should be allowed to participate in the cultural programs and that only Kannada songs should be performed during the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations.
He directed the Deputy Directors of the School Education Department and Field Education Officers to oversee the preliminary preparations, select appropriate cultural performances, and ensure that the program aligns with the spirit of Kannada Rajyotsava.
Dr. Venkat Raja issued clear instructions to subcommittees-such as those in charge of reception, stage arrangements, flag hoisting, procession, cultural events, food, prizes, cleanliness, and drinking water-to conduct meetings at their respective levels and inform the district administration of their preparations by October 24.
He further stated that individuals who have achieved distinction at the state, national, or international levels in various fields should be recognized and honoured. A committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Additional Deputy Commissioner for this purpose, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya urged officials to work collectively to ensure the success of the Kannada Rajyotsava celebration, maintaining the same standard as the previous year.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Anand Prakash Meena directed officials to make all necessary arrangements for the event in an efficient and timely manner.
Additional Superintendent of Police Barike Dinesh Kumar assured that the police department would take all required measures to ensure security during the celebrations and the procession.
District Physical Education Officer Sadashiva Palled stated that students who have scored the highest marks in Kannada in the SSLC examination will be felicitated on the occasion. He also confirmed that all arrangements for the cultural program are being made.
