Dr. Mantar Gowda, MLA of Madikeri constituency, launched multiple road development projects in Somwarpet taluk. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the MLA said the state government is prioritizing rural development and stressed that quality should not be compromised during road construction. He urged villagers to personally inspect the work and ensure durability, warning against shoddy practices.
The projects include concreting of the Aiguru-Kirgandur-Koodegadde road at a cost of Rs. 1 crore, re-asphalting of the Thakeri-Haraga road at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh, construction of a bridge across Kirgandur-DBD road at a cost of Rs. 15 lakh, concreting of Kirgandur Durga Colony road at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh, and improvement of rural roads in Kirgandur village at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh.
On the occasion, Kodagu District Vokkaligara Sangha President S.M. Chagappa, District Congress Vice President K.M. Lokesh, Somwarpet Block Congress President B.B. Satish, Somwarpet Government Junior College Development Committee President V.A. Lawrence, former Kiragandur Gram Panchayat Vice President S.B. Surendra, Iguru Pax Director K.P. Roshan, former Gram Panchayat President S.P. Gopal, former Taluk Panchayat Member Sabita Chennakeshava, and local villagers were present.
