High Court orders ban on land conversion for commercial purposes in Kodagu

The Karnataka High Court has ordered a ban on the conversion of Jamma Bane, Sago and paddy fields, and coffee plantations in Kodagu district for commercial purposes under the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964.

Colonel Cheppudira C. Muthanna, Honorary Secretary of the Environment and Health Foundation of India, said that copies of the order have been sent to the Chief Secretary of the State Government and the Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department.

A letter has also been issued to the Kodagu Deputy Commissioner to create awareness among the public regarding the order.
