A newly upgraded Dental Department and an advanced OPG X-ray machine were inaugurated at the Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences (KoIMS) Teaching Hospital, enhancing dental care services for the district.
Dr. Kedarnath N.S., Professor and Head of Dental Medicine, stated that the modernized department will significantly improve access to quality dental treatments.
For the past five years, KoIMS has offered various dental procedures, including surgeries for the mouth, jaw, and face. Over 250 patients have benefited under the AB-ARK scheme.The recently launched “Danta Bhagya Yojana” under the national program will offer free removable and complete dentures to BPL cardholders above 45 years of age.

KoIMS Dean and Director Dr. Lokesh L.G. praised the dental team for their consistent service and encouraged broader outreach with the new infrastructure. Medical Chairman Dr. Somashekar and District Surgeon Dr. Nanjundaya urged residents to utilize the expanded services.
Available services now include: Dental and OPG X-rays, Tooth extractions, Treatment of tooth decay and root canals, Partial and complete dentures, Wisdom tooth surgeries. Minor and major oral and maxillofacial surgeries (including cleft lip and palate repair)
