A preparatory meeting to plan this year’s Independence Day celebrations was held recently under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja. The meeting resolved to celebrate Independence Day on August 15 with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. It was decided that, as in previous years, the celebrations will be held at the Madikeri Fort premises. Various sub-committees have been tasked with ensuring the smooth execution of arrangements, including welcoming dignitaries, flag hoisting, stage preparation, parade management, breakfast distribution, speeches, and prize distribution.
Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja instructed the committees to ensure all necessary preparations are made, particularly for the flag hoisting ceremony. He directed the stage committee to install a waterproof shamiana to account for weather conditions and the breakfast committee to make arrangements for students participating in the event.
The Deputy Commissioner also announced that achievers from the district in NEET, IIT-JEE, CET, sports, agriculture, and other fields will be honoured during the program. He urged all officers to work diligently to make the celebrations meaningful and successful. District Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan stressed the importance of coordinated efforts from officers at all levels to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. He emphasized that all programs, including the invitation of dignitaries, should be organized in an orderly and dignified manner.
Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya instructed the officials to submit the list of awardees and their fields of achievement to the district office by August 5. She called upon all officers to carry out their duties efficiently during the celebrations. Officers from various departments attended the meeting.
