Children’s Art Talent Program Held in Madikeri

The Children’s Art Talent Program for the year 2025-26 was held at PM Shri Government Model Higher Primary School on Thursday. The event was organized in collaboration with the State Balabhavan Society, Bengaluru, the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Women and Child Development Department, District Balabhavan Committee, and the Madikeri Taluk Balabhavan Committee.

Krishnamurthy, Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department, inaugurated the program. In his address, he urged children to be cautious about the increasing use of mobile phones. He noted that while mobile phones have become indispensable tools for communication, entertainment, and access to information, their excessive use poses serious risks, particularly for students. He warned of the potential negative impact on academic performance, mental health, and physical well-being. He advised children to reduce screen time and cultivate the habit of reading.Krishnamurthy also congratulated the winners of the essay writing competition held as part of the Children’s Art Talent Program.

Child Development Project Officer Seethalakshmi addressed the participants, informing them about the 1098 child helpline. She highlighted recent incidents of child abduction, warning children to remain alert and avoid accepting sweets or gifts from strangers. She encouraged children to participate in programs organized by the District and Taluk Balabhavan in the future.

Taluk Area Education Officer Doddegowda spoke on the importance of such programs in nurturing children’s creative talents from a young age. He emphasized that, along with academics and games, cultural activities like dance, music, and art play a crucial role in a child’s holistic development. He extended his best wishes to all participants. An essay competition for children aged 5 to 16 was conducted as part of the program, with more than 100 children participating. Certificates and pens were distributed to the winners and to all participants.

Sushila, Headmistress of PM Shri Government Model Higher Primary School, welcomed the gathering. Keshini compered the event. District Balabhavan staff Harish and Pooja, along with school teachers, were present.
