Sharath (33), a forest guard from Madikeri who had been reported missing, was found dead near HalehattiTandya in Sakharayapattana, Kadur taluk, Chikkamagaluru district. His motorcycle and jerkin were earlier discovered in a Nilgiri plantation, prompting a week-long search by police and forest officials.
As the body was in a decomposed state, a post-mortem was conducted on the spot. A case has been registered at the Nanjarayapattana Police Station. Further investigations are underway.
