An advocate identified as Vidyadhara Gowda K.R. (66), also known as Vidyadhara Kudekallu, was arrested by the Kodagu Police in connection with a derogatory WhatsApp message posted about Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa and General K.S. Thimayya.
The arrested is a resident of Aletty village in Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. Kodagu Superintendent of Police (SP) K Ramarajan said that a case was registered at the Suntikoppa police station following a complaint regarding derogatory remarks against Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa and General K.S. Thimayya.Â
The derogatory comments were allegedly posted by the advocate in a WhatsApp group named Saptasagara (Kadalu) using the fake identity “Srivatsa Bhat”. Following the incident, the Madikeri Bar Association suspended him from its membership for six months. In the case, Vidyadhara has been granted conditional bail by the court.
