An advocate identified as Vidyadhara Gowda K.R. (66) has been arrested by Kodagu Police in connection with the derogatory Whatsapp message posted against Field Marshal K M Cariappa and General KS Thimayya.
The arrested is a resident of Aletty village in Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. Kodagu Superintendent of Police (SP) K Ramarajan said that a case was registered at the Suntikoppa police station following a complaint regarding derogatory remarks against Field Marshal KM Cariappa and General K S Thimayya.Â
The derogatory comments were allegedly posted by the advocate in a WhatsApp group named Saptasagara (Kadalu) using the fake identity “Srivatsa Bhat”. Following the incident, the Madikeri Bar Association suspended him from its membership for six months. In the criminal case, Vidyadhara has been granted conditional bail by the court.
