Comments:

The notification of reservation for presidents and vice-presidents in various Urban Local Bodies (ULB’s) in the Kodagu district has been issued by the government recently. Women have been reserved for the posts of presidents in Madikeri City Municipal Council (CMC), and Kushalnagar, Virajpet and Somwarpet Town Panchayats (TP’s). The posts of vice-presidents in the Virajpet and Somwarpet Town Panchayats are also reserved for women, whereas only men are to contest for the vice presidents’ posts in the Madikeri CMC and the Kushalnagar TMC. The term of the Madikeri CMC ended in April and without the reservation list for three months, there was no president and vice president. As the reservation list is out, the election for these posts will be soon held.
