The 10th International Yoga Day was celebrated at Sainik School Kodagu, following this year’s theme Yoga for Self and Society. Col Amar Jeet Singh, Principal, WgCdr P Prakash Rao, Administrative Officer, Sqn Ldr Mohammad Shaji, Vice Principal along with the staff and cadets participated in the group yoga demonstration.
Organized by the NCC JD COY, Sainik School Kodagu, the celebration showcased a collective yoga demonstration adhering to the common yoga protocol established by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. This protocol ensures efficient practice yielding maximum health benefits, encompassing yogasanas, breathing techniques, exercises, and meditation to enhance overall well-being.
Since its declaration by the United Nations in 2015, the International Day of Yoga has been an integral part of the school’s calendar, emphasizing a holistic approach to yoga that nurtures both physical and mental wellness.
Speaking on the occasion Col Amar Jeet Singh emphasised that yoga transcends mere physical exercise; it embodies a holistic practice integrating mind, body, and spirit. Regular yoga practice, helps in stress management, enhances focus, and boosts energy levels. It also fosters inner connection, promoting a sense of calm and balance essential for daily life. The principal urged cadets to embrace yoga as a pathway to a healthier, more balanced lifestyle, encouraging them to pledge making yoga an integral part of their daily routine, he added.
