Thanish Muthappa & Thanav Poovanna

Thanish and his brother Thanav Poovanna had won bronze in 2023 regional games. Thanav Poovanna was the first to represent the CISCE Karnataka State team from Coorg and had won bronze in 2023 Nationals. Currently they are being trained at SACAA Sports Academy, Bittangala.

Presently, more than 100 children are trained in badminton in Coorg under different academies. Thanav and Thanish were winners in Under-17 and Under-19 category in the recent Ranking tournament conducted by CDBA and SACAA seeding tournament conducted by SACAA academy in Coorg.

Sports has to be an integral part of every childs growing up years – it improves fitness, teamwork and sharpens coordination. Parents and Educational Institutions should encourage their children to actively participate in sporting activities.

Last but not the least – it is important that good sporting talent is identified and nurtured in a systematic manner in Kodagu District. Kodavas have excelled in Athletics, Tennis, Cricket, Badminton, Rifle Shooting, Golf, Boxing and of course Hockey. Coordinated efforts between various Educational Institutions, Clubs, Armed Forces and Community Centers like Kodava Samajas is the need of the hour. Sporadic, last minute fund-raising leaves the sportsman disenchanted and they tend to lose interest in the Sport.
