Daksha, the 26 year old elephant, which was captured in a coffee plantation at Badaga Banangala village and released into forest is said to have returned to the village after a week.

The elephant was earlier radio collared by the forest department before releasing it into the forest in order to track its movement. Local residents have captured the video of the elephant straying around in the coffee plantation.

The elephant had earlier killed a woman in Badaga Banangala village. More than 100 Forest department staff and six trained elephants took part in an operation to capture Daksha on May 15. Lakhs of rupees were spent towards the operation.
