Biddappa appointed as whole-time director of HUL

Hindustan Unilever (HUL) appoints Buttianda P Biddappa as Chief People, Transformation, and Sustainability Officer for South Asia 23-05-2024 Hindustan Unilever has announced the appointment of B P Biddappa as Executive Director – HR and Chief People, Transformation, and Sustainability officer for the South Asia region, effective June 1st, 2024. 

Biddappa will also join the HUL Board as a Whole-time Director, subject to shareholder approval, according to a statement. Biddappa is currently serving as the Chief Resource Officer for Global Home Care and Head of Global Employee Relations for Unilever. 

During his last stint, Biddappa was instrumental in creating a more agile and focused business unit framework in South Asia and launching the Prabhat community development program that has to date impacted over 10 million Indians as per the statement. 

Biddappa started his 30-yearlong career with a factory stint in HUL and then moved on to undertake a variety of roles, from leadership development to business partnering, across several Unilever businesses and led HR for Unilever in Maghreb, Bangladesh, and India. Rohit Jawa, CEO, and Man, HUL said, “An accomplished HR leader with over three decades of experience, Biddappa comes with immense knowledge of transformation and organizational development. His able guidance and leadership will help transform the business to progress further on our future-fit agenda.” 

Biddappa is the son of B M Ponnappa and Premila Ponnappa, daughter of the late Somayanda Kalappa.
