Forest Department officials have been successful in rescuing an elephant that had accidentally fallen into a slush pit in a farmland at Chikka bettageri recently.

It is reported that the elephant had strayed into the farmland in search of food and water and accidentally fell into the slush pit. Villager from Keremoole informed the Forest Department about the incident.

An earthmover unsuccessfully tried to lift the elephant. After three hours of operation, the elephant crawled and moved forward on its own and entered the nearby plantation after escaping from the trap.
