The Kodagu District Unit of the National Integrated Medical Association (NIMA) celebrated Dhanvantari Jayanti and its Silver Jubilee in Madikeri in a meaningful manner.
Ganapati Homa and Dhanvantari Havan were conducted at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Kalyana Mantapa in the morning. On the occasion, Dr. Jaya Govinda U. of Ukkinada delivered a talk on “NIMA’s Impact on Society” and released the Silver Jubilee commemorative issue of Neema. Dr. M.D. Rafi Hakim of Bangalore, KAUP and KSB NIMA President, also addressed the gathering.
A felicitation programme was organised under the chairmanship of NIMA President Dr. Rajarama A.R., honouring achievers from various fields. Those felicitated included Yoga Guru K.K. Mahesh, Mahamad of Tanal Institute, wildlife veterinarian Dr. B.C. Chittiappa, retired Lead Bank Manager R.K. Balachandra, peace preacher K.T. Vatsala, M.A. Rafeeq of Kodagu Blood Donors Association, Kavadi Kana Krishna Bhat of Kamadhenu Goushala, Dr. S.V. Narasimhan of the Bird and Wildlife Conservation Campaign, Somanna, President of Sai Mandir Mekeri, international badminton coach Jyoti Somaiah, and several others from medical, social, and educational sectors.
Senior Gynaecologist Dr. Jayalakshmi Patkar and KVG Principal Dr. D.V. Leeladhar participated as chief guests at the closing ceremony, organised in collaboration with the Kodagu District Legal Services Authority. Chief Judge of the Kodagu Family Court C.K. Basavaraj and Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority spoke on “Medical Negligence and Doctor Awareness”.
A felicitation was held for NIMA Kodagu members, and prizes were distributed to the winners of competitions organised for doctors and medical students. An Ayurvedic Health Camp was conducted in collaboration with KVG Ayurvedic Medical College, Sullia, and an exhibition of Ayurvedic posters, stalls, and medicinal plants drew significant attention.
