A meeting was recently held under the chairmanship of Kodagu District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Venkat Raja with leaders of various political parties to discuss the special comprehensive revision of the voters’ list and other election-related issues at the office hall of the D C in Madikeri.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the Election Commission of India has decided to initiate a special comprehensive revision of the voters’ list. In this regard, all necessary preparations have been made in the district.
He informed that a similar revision was conducted across the state in 2002 and emphasized that booth-level agents of political parties should be appointed to assist in this exercise.
Dr. Venkat Raja further stated that the revision would be effective only if booth-level agents actively participate by adding names to the voter list through Form-6, removing names through Form-7, making amendments, transferring entries, issuing EPIC cards, and marking PWD voters (persons with disabilities) through Form-8.
The DC also suggested that detailed information regarding voters and Forms 6, 7, and 8 at the booth level should be made available to the public.
He instructed that all political parties should provide the list of their appointed booth-level agents to the District Election Office and stressed the need to create widespread awareness about the ongoing voter list revision.
ADC R. Aishwarya and leaders of various political parties – Thennira Maina (Congress), Sajjil Krishna (BJP), Gulabi Janardhana (JDS), Ramesh (CPIM), Somappa (CPI), and Prithvi (AAP) – shared their inputs regarding the voter list revision process and the appointment of booth-level agents.
