This is truly an unprecedented and remarkable achievement by Sainik School Kodagu – perhaps the best for any Army School in the country. The Principal Col Amarjeet Singh must be truly proud of the institution, his Staff and the cadets.

With all the clout, standing and achievements of our serving and retired Generals from Kodagu, it is obvious that the community must put all it’s resources together to identify young talent and encourage them to join the Sainik School and their related Navodaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools. CEF, KESST, Kodava Deenabandhu Charitable Trust and all the Kodava Samajas may please take note. – CLN Newsdesk

In a momentous occasion and a source of immense pride for Sainik School Kodagu, 23 cadets from the school have successfully cleared the prestigious UPSC NDA written examination held on 14 September 2025. This remarkable achievement is the first of its kind in the school’s history, marking a significant milestone in its pursuit of academic and military excellence.

The credit for this historic success goes to the visionary leadership of Principal Col Amarjeet Singh, who meticulously devised a comprehensive plan for the batch. The implementation of this strategy was ensured through the dedicated efforts of Vice Principal Sqn Ldr Shaji, Senior Master Mr. Vibin Kumar, NDA In-charge Mr. Sanjeev Kiran, and a committed team of teachers including Mr. Suresh, Mr. Ramesh, Ms. Sreelekha VS, Mr. Rajgolkar, Mr. Ashokan, Mr. Dada Kusanale, and Mr. Ashok Y. Kengare.

Further strengthening the preparation, Wing Commander Prakash Rao conducted special classes covering diverse topics, while visiting faculty from across the country were invited to deliver lecturettes and interactive sessions, providing cadets with holistic training and exposure.

This outstanding result is not only a testament to the cadets’ hard work but also reflects the school’s strong mentoring ecosystem and unwavering commitment to its motto: “Veeratha, Dridatha, Pramaniktha.” With this achievement, Sainik School Kodagu has once again proven itself to be a cradle of leadership, nurturing future officers for the Indian Armed Forces.

The successful cadets will soon appear before the Service Selection Board at various locations across the country later this year, followed by subsequent training. Col Amarjeet Singh extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the cadets for their exemplary achievement.

  1. Tremendous Achievement. The Kodavas have always had a rich legacy of outstanding servicemen at all levels, including a large number of Generals – disproportionate to the size of our small community.

Over a period of time, the
Entry Examinations have become a National affair. In the case of Kodagu Sainik School, there is a large influx of students who apply themselves much more than our youngsters, making entry level that much more difficult. The only way out is HARD WORK and there are no other short cuts.

We should formulate plans as a community and provide opportunities through Coorg Education Fubd, KESST, Kodava Samajas and more. Cordinated action is the need of the hour.

  2. KESST runs Sainik School entrance exam coaching classes at Lions School Gonikoppa for Cl 4 & 5 children for entry to Cl 6 based on their age eligibility. KESST provides the coaches from June-July till the exam, which is normally conducted in Jan.
Every year since 2018, 10-15 children from Lions School and other nearby schools attend the Mon- Sat full day coaching sessions.

  3. Spotting of talent and intent of parents when the children are young is everything. Coordinated action is the need of the hour. Time to ACT.

  4. Good evening CCs

NDA course 156 Result for the Rashtriya Military Schools (earlier King George School)

    Chail 23 out of 37 – 62.12%
    Ajmer 11 out of 43 – 32.65%
    Belgaum 04 out of 29 – 13%
    Bengaluru 14 out of 35 – 40%
    Dholpur 20 out of 45 – 44.44%

    Total 72 out of 180
    Percentage 40%

Wonder how Sainik School fares in comparison?

Also, the real test is getting through the Selection Boards. Must gather more data.

Having said that, for a rural school and so young in terms of existence, it is a tremendous achievement! 👏👏

  5. Congratulations to Col. Amarjeet and his fantastic Staff of Sainik School Kodagu 🙏

Having studied in King George School/Bangalore Military School I would have expected to see many more Kodava cadets. Something for the Kodava community to ponder!

    • Sir
Your efforts are commendable. Now the pattern of 40:60 (All India :home state) is not supportive for selection of cadets from Kodagu. Further there are large number of full time residential coaching classes charging hefty amounts from students and prepare them for AISEE for 2 years. With selection of students trainable for leadership to clear SSB interview, SSKG can do wonders. My son was student of SSKG and I train students for SSB, I would like to give some insight to the students about success stratergies for SSB if they are not already overloaded. Thank you.
