Heavy Crowd Expected for Dasara Event: Madikeri’s Friday Market Called Off

Date:

Comments:

Anticipating a large influx of people and vehicular traffic in Madikeri to witness the Dasara processions on October 2, the District Administration has cancelled the weekly Friday market (Sante) at Mahadevpet, which is a permanent feature of the town. Orders to this effect have been issued.

The procession, which begins on October 2, will conclude with the exhibition of Mantapas (decorative floats) on October 3. Thereafter, the Mantapas will proceed to Banni Mantapa at IG Circle, Mahadevpet, for puja and later return to their respective temples. The schedule will extend until around 8 p.m., leading to large public gatherings and heavy traffic.
