Dashamantapa committee submits requests to MP for relaxation of rules on use of loudspeakers
Mysore-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wodeyar recently visited the Madikeri Dashamantapa temples and held discussions with the Dashamantapa Committee and leaders of the Dasara committees regarding the upcoming Dasara celebrations in Madikeri.
On the occasion, the Madikeri Dashamantapa Committee submitted a request to MP Yaduveer Wodeyar to relax the restrictions on the use of loudspeakers during the Dashamantapa procession, which is the main attraction of the Madikeri Dasara festival. They urged him to instruct the police department to allow their use.
The committee leaders explained that the Madikeri Dasara festival is celebrated with grandeur, on par with the Mysore Dasara. The Karaga Utsava of the four Shakti deities and the procession of the Shakti idols in the city are conducted with devotion, culminating in the grand procession of the ten mantapas on Vijayadashami, which draws huge crowds.

They pointed out that Rs. 25 to 30 lakhs are spent on preparing each tableau. However, the police department has imposed strict rules on the use of loudspeakers during the mantapa procession. The committee members said that the use of loudspeakers is essential to narrate the story themes presented through the tableaux and to enhance the festive atmosphere. They also assured that all safety and law-and-order concerns would be addressed.
The leaders requested the MP to relax the rules and direct the police to permit the use of loudspeakers during the festival.
MP Yaduveer assured full cooperation for the successful organization of the grand Dasara celebrations. He also participated in a special pooja, after which various temple committees honoured him.
Present on the occasion were Dashamantapa Committee President B.M. Harish Anvekar, along with office bearers and members of all ten temple committees.
