DC, Venkat Raja pleasantly surprised the Organizers and Spectators on the Inaugural Day of the Kundyolanda Hockey Carnival. In his opening speech he said he would play the game and be one with the hockey loving Kodavas by actually playing with them as a member of the COORG XI hockey team.
Overheard in the VIP box – he represented India in the Under 17 Age category and decided to show his love for the sport and inspire the local audience by changing into his hockey gear and posed like a professional with the Umpires and the star studded Coorg XI. His spirited participation in the first quarter was much appreciated by the crowd – a sure shot winning behaviour with a hockey loving community.
Many comments were made in good humour that visitors to the district administration office will elicit a quick response by the sportsman at the helm of affairs, if they appeared in the hockey colours and gear! On a more serious note, he has an affable demeanor and a thorough professional in the discharge of his responsibilities in a very sensitive district.

This is the quality of true Sportsmanship! Met our DC Venkat Raja personally last Nov to seek his intervention on some issue. He came across as a honest, no-nonsense gentleman who can see through what is true and what is not, and does take personal interest to sort out issues in genuine matters. He is approachable and also absolutely down to earth!
We wish him the best and a long and a succesful stay in Kodagu! We need such honest Adminstrators!
