Kodagu DC Venkat Raja instructs officials to make necessary preparations

Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Dr. Venkat Raja, after presiding over a meeting held at his office regarding the upcoming social and educational survey, informed that the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission will conduct a survey on the social and educational conditions of all families in the state.

He explained that the process of conducting the survey across all families will begin soon, and it is essential to ensure that no household is left out. Since all houses have electricity connections, households will be identified on the basis of the RR number from electricity bills. Even houses without electricity will be geo-mapped through Village Administrative Officers to ensure full coverage.

The DC added that listing of families from the electricity meter readers has already started, and stickers are being affixed for geo-tagging. He requested families not to remove the stickers until the survey is completed.

The survey will be conducted from September 22 to October 07 during the Dasara vacation period. Teachers will be assigned to carry out the survey, and a dedicated mobile application has been developed for the purpose.

There are about 65 questions in the survey questionnaire. Each surveyor will personally visit households and collect the required information. The DC stated that there are 1,86,005 houses with electricity connections in the district. To manage the process, 25 master trainers, 62 supervisors, and 1,240 enumerators will be deployed.

The master trainers selected at the district level will first be trained, and in turn, they will train the supervisors and enumerators. The government has directed the appointment of field education officers, head teachers, and Panchayat Development Officers of Gram Panchayats to supervise the work.

Coordination committees have been formed at the district level under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner and at the taluk level under the chairmanship of the Assistant Commissioner to oversee the survey.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Anand Prakash Meena instructed officials to strictly follow the government’s directives regarding the survey. He asked the Backward Classes Welfare Officer to continuously convey guidelines to officers and staff.

Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya, Assistant Commissioner Nitin Chakki, Backward Classes Welfare Officer A. S. Deepak, Urban Development Planning Branch Director B. Basappa, Municipal Commissioner H. R. Ramesh, CESC EE Ramachandra, Backward Classes Welfare Department Officer Kavitha, Manager Shivashankar, Taluk Officers Mohan Kumar and Srikanth, DYPC Krishnappa of the School Education Department, District Census Officer Narayana, and others attended the meeting.

The Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission has ordered the survey to cover all castes, including Backward Classes, Other Castes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes. The public is requested to provide suggestions regarding the inclusion of any caste or sub-caste that may have been left out. Suggestions can be sent to the email address kscbsd@gmail.com, said A. S. Deepak, District Officer of the Backward Classes Welfare Department.
