A Vitamin A supplementation and health awareness program was recently conducted at the Karnangeri Anganwadi Centre. As part of the initiative, all children under the centre’s jurisdiction were administered Vitamin A solution to help prevent blindness and boost immunity. Devaki, PHCO from the Health Department, educated participants on the importance of Vitamin A, diarrhoea prevention methods, and the use of zinc tablets. She also demonstrated how to prepare and use ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution), creating awareness among parents and staff.
Mepadanda Savita Kirtan, Supervisor In-Charge and Assistant Child Development Project Officer, emphasized the importance of cleanliness, nutritious food, and the use of boiled water to prevent diseases, especially during the rainy season. She also highlighted the importance of regular weight and height monitoring to track the growth and development of children enrolled at the Anganwadi Centre. The event saw participation from District Nutrition Coordinator Kavya, Anganwadi workers Saroja and Jayanthi, ASHA worker Anita Rai, Assistant Meena, and several parents.
