Regular passengers on the KSRTC Volvo services between Bengaluru and Coorg(Kodagu) (Madikeri/Virajpet) have raised concerns over the outdated travel schedules, despite the significant improvement in road infrastructure. The Bangalore–Mysore expressway, which has cut down travel time between the two cities by nearly two hours, has not translated into quicker KSRTC services to Coorg.
In a formal representation submitted to the Managing Director of KSRTC and the Karnataka Transport Department, passengers have requested a rescheduling of Volvo services to reflect the upgraded road conditions and to reduce overall travel time by at least 2.5 hours.
Key Demands from Passengers:

Revised Schedules: Align the current bus timings with improved road travel speeds.

Express Volvo Services: Introduce faster buses with minimal stoppages, especially on the Bengaluru–Virajpet and Bengaluru–Madikeri routes.

Target Travel Time: Cover the journey in 4.5 hours instead of the existing 6–7 hours, which is deemed possible with the new highway infrastructure.
Passengers highlighted that despite paying premium fares, they continue to spend excessive time on the road, losing valuable hours—particularly students, professionals, and tourists. The current situation, they say, undermines productivity and negatively affects tourism in the Kodagu region.
From Mysuru to Virajpet alone, a 110 km stretch still takes over 3 hours, they noted, further pointing to inefficiencies that persist despite better connectivity.
The citizens believe that rescheduling services would not only improve the commuter experience but also reflect the government’s commitment to modern, efficient public transport.
They urged KSRTC and the Transport Ministry to act promptly and restructure services to better serve the public and support regional economic development and tourism.
