Dr.Mantar Gowda Urges Enhanced Preparedness in Madikeri Ahead of Monsoon

MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda has urged officials and residents to exercise increased caution in Madikeri city, especially with the onset of the monsoon season.

Speaking at a meeting held at the Madikeri City Municipal Council hall, Dr. Gowda emphasized the importance of taking proactive measures to address challenges arising from heavy rainfall. He called for immediate steps to prevent disruptions and safeguard public welfare.

He emphasized the need for improved environmental cleanliness and unimpeded drainage of rainwater. Regular cleaning of the Raj Kaluve (stormwater drain) was stressed to avoid the accumulation of waste. The MLA also suggested launching a dedicated helpline to respond to rain-related emergencies and public grievances during the monsoon.

“Preparations must be made in advance to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens,” he noted, adding that cooperation among all stakeholders is vital for the city’s development.

Dr. Gowda informed the gathering that work has begun on the development of major city roads, including Raja Seat Road and General Thimmaiah Road. The projects will include construction of footpaths, stormwater drains, vehicle parking facilities, and other infrastructure improvements.

He also instructed officials to properly maintain Form No. 3 and recommended that completed municipal works be clearly listed on public nameplates for transparency.

During the meeting, Municipal Council President P. Kalavathi and Vice President Mahesh Jaini brought up several civic concerns.

CMC members including Rajesh Yallappa, B.P. Chitravathi, Satish, Savita Rakesh, Bashir Ahmed, P. Chandrashekar, K.M. Appanna, Sabita, Mary Vegas, K.S. Ramesh, Mustapa M.A., Manjula C.K., Arun Shetty, Anita N.P., M.K. Mansur Ali, Neema Arshad, Shweta Y.D., and nominated members Sada Muddappa, G.C. Jagadish, Zulai Kabi, and Mudduraj B.N. also raised various issues concerning their respective wards.
