The Kodagu District BJP staged a road blockade protest in Madikeri, condemning the suicide case of BJP worker Vinay Somaiya.

BJP leaders and workers gathered at  Madikeri  General Thimmaiah Circle and shouted slogans against the Congress party and the state government.

They demanded the immediate arrest of the  District Congress party spokesperson, whom Vinay had mentioned in his statement before committing suicide.

Speaking on the occasion, former Assembly Speaker K.G. Bopaiah expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the state government.

The police had tried to register a case under a different section after the court stayed the FIR registered against Vinay. The FIR was registered on the grounds that Vinay had shared a big mistake on social media about the unclean Napoklu public toilet. It is condemnable that the FIR was registered without taking action to clean the toilet.  KGB reiterated   that he police are acting  on the behest of Congress  MLA’s.

Speaking on the occasion, Kodagu District BJP President Napanda Ravi Kalappa said that  “Vinay has nothing to do with the matter shared on social media. Today, an innocent person died,  even though  he was not in the wrong,  the police registered an FIR.  The Two MLAs of the district are misusing the Police Department. He also  alleged that the FIR was registered against Vinay because the MLAs put pressure on them “.
