D.K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) of Karnataka recently visited the holy shrine of Bhagandeshwar temple at Bhagamandala and the source of the Cauveri river- Talecauveri on the occasion of the Cauveri Aarti program, and offered special prayers.
D.K. Shivakumar first visited the Triveni Sangam, and received the holy prasad at Bhagamandala. He also visited Bhagandeshwar temple and offered special prayers.
Then he offered special prayers to Mahaganapati, Bhagandeshwar, Mahavishnu, and Subramanya and prayed for good rains in the coming days and prosperity for the state.
Then he visited Talacauveri and took a holy dip in the pond near Brahmakundike. He was accompained by MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda who also took a holy bath.
Later, he offered special prayers to Maha Ganapati, offered special prayers to Cauveri Matha in Brahmakundika, and performed Kumkumm archana. He said that Mother Cauveri Matha provides drinking water to the entire state and the ‘Kaveri Aarti’ program has been organised in Bengaluru to spread the message about the importance of drinking water. He received the Cauveri Tirtha Prasad on this occasion and handed it over to Ram Prasad, President of Bengaluru Jal Mandali.

Speaking to media persons at the Bhagamandala helipad, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said that a walk was organized from Mekedatu to Bangalore in the name of ‘Our Water, Our Rights’. Saving our water and land is our top priority. In this regard, he said that a campaign has been organised on the importance of water, on the occasion of ‘World Water Day’.
Speaking further, DCM said that a special program has been organised at the Sankey Lake premises in Bangalore after offering special prayers and obeisances to Mother Cauvery and to take steps to conserve water.
