Central Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar announced the election date for Lok Sabha Election – 2024. recently at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi for 543 constituencies, Election in 7 Phases across India. Election is being held in 2 phases in Karnataka. Election in Kodagu Mysore Lok Sabha Constituency is on 26th April 2024. Counting of votes on June 4. A new government should come into existence at the center by June 24th.
14 check posts set up in Kodagu for Lok Sabha elections
A total of 14 check posts have been set up in Kodagu district as a preparation for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections and security has been strengthened at the inter-state check posts at Karike, Kutta and Makutta.
Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja said permission is mandatory for programs where a large number of people gather.
The DC said that festivals and temple fairs are in progress in various places but added that even such fairs need permission.
Dr Venkat Raja said that the Excise Department should approve the supply of liquor in marriages and other functions and added that by adhering to the guidelines, let us work for a free and fair election.
The notification will be issued on March 28 and the last date for filing nomination is April 4. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is April 8, the DC said.
In Madikeri Assembly constituency, there are 2,36,562 voters, while there are 2,29,592 voters in Virajpet.
Both constituencies included, there are 4,66,154 voters. Of this, 2,28,478 are male voters and 2,37,660 are female voters. There are 16 transgender voters.
Kodagu Superintendent of Police K Ramarajan warned of action against those who spread false news and spreading messages that stir communal harmony. Cases will be booked against those indulged in such acts, he added.
A majority of the people in the district own arms. All the licensed arms should be deposited. Those with criminal antecedents and possessing Jamma arms and ammunition should mandatorily deposit the same.
Raja said any violation of the model code of conduct, including the distribution of cash, household items and liquors to the voters, can be brought to the notice of the officials through the C-Vigil app. The public can upload even videos and photos through the app, he added.
The district has 1,357 service voters, 4,411 persons with disabilities and 5,686 voters who are above 85 years of age. The Election Commission of India has given an option for the elderly to vote from home.
