Killer elephant captured

A wild male elephant  about 43-year-old  was recently captured by the Forest Department  near Chennangolli. It was reported that  about  three days back this wild elephant had attacked and killed a woman.

A special operation team located this elephant in the Devarapura Devarakadu forest and then surrounded it  with trained elephants from the Mattigodu, Harangi and Dubare camps.  Bheema, Kanjan, Vikram, Prashanth, Srikant and Eshwar took part in the operation.

Dr. Ramesh, Veterinary expert  and Ranjan sharpshooter successfully administered a tranquilizer shot to the wild elephant once it was surrounded .

The wild  elephant collapsed after  running a short distance.  Water was sprayed on it to  control  its health condition.

After some time once the elephant regained its  consciousness,  the tamed elephants controlled the wild elephants even though  it   initially resisted.  Later  with the help of a crane, it was loaded on to a truck and shifted to the Dubare elephant camp.

The operation was led by Virajpet DCF Jagannath and Thithimathi ACF Gopal under the guidance of  Dr. Malathi Priya, Kodagu district CCF. Sanketh Poovayya , Karnataka State Wildlife Board member was also present throughout the operation and congratulated the team for capturing wild elephant
