Complaints have been filed at various police stations across the district by the Kodagu District Roman Catholic Association and its units regarding an alleged defamatory message about Jesus Christ posted on Facebook. A case has been also registered at the Madikeri Town Police Station.

The office-bearers of the association in Madikeri, Kushalnagar, Virajpet and Somwarpet have demanded the immediate arrest of the accused. They warned of protests if no action was taken.

Members of the Christian community staged a protest recently demanding the immediate arrest of those who defamed their religion, and Jesus Christ on social media.

The protest was organised under the aegis of the District Roman Catholic Association. The protesters gathered in front of the Jayaveeramatha Church in the taluk and also took out a protest march condemning the post.

Sheila D’Souza, Denzil Varghese, Solomon, KJ Sunil, Vincy D’Souza and others took part in the protest.
