“Rural Sports Festival” in Madikeri on December 22nd by HRIF

On the occasion of the 69th Kannada Rajyotsava for the revival of rural sports culture, the State President of the Federation, Harish G. Acharya, said that ‘Rural Sports Festival’ will be held on December 22nd at Gandhi Maidan in Madikeri on behalf of Human Rights International Federation (HRIF) in association with Veeranadu Rakshasnavedike.

Speaking at a press conference in Madikeri, Harish G. Acharya, appealed to revive the old rural sports by allowing the public to participate in sports activities regardless of age in the sports festival that will begin at 9.30 am.

In the festival, village games like goli, buguri, lagori, wheel barrow pushing, stone throwing with catar bow etc. will be held till 5 pm.  Speaking further he said that today’s younger generation are not only influenced by mobile phones and are away from sports activities and they are also not aware of rural games. Efforts will be made to introduce our old sports to them through rural sports festival, he added

Harish G. Acharya  further said that a very small amount of entry fee has been fixed for those participating in some sports activities including coconut pelting. After the sports festival, a cultural program will be held at Kaveri Kalakshetra, Madikeri at 7 pm. Harish Acharya also informed that the achievers in various fields including senior civil servants, labour brothers, Savita Samaja, farmers, ex-servicemen, senior auto and taxi drivers and seniors who have served in the media sector will be honored on the occasion.

Human Rights International Federation Vice President P. Eshwar, Secretary R. Lakshman, members A. U. Poonachcha and A. A. Pemmaiah were present in the press conference.
