Comments:

Environmentalist and Secretary of the Environment and Health Foundation (India) Colonel CP Mutnanna addressing a press conference in Madikeri recently said that River Cauvery is being polluted by sewage water through drains at various places in Kodagu district polluting the river water right in its birthplace.

He said that commercial buildings and resorts have been constructed within the river’s buffer zone and added that at many places, the river’s flow path has been encroached upon. Despite complaints already being filed with the district administration, the encroachment survey is being deliberately delayed. He warned of waging a legal battle if the district administration fails to take appropriate action immediately.
