Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja after launching the cleanliness and service program by planting saplings in the Madikeri Zilla Panchayat premises recently said that the participation of the public is essential and important in maintaining the cleanliness of the environment as well as their premises.
DC informed that like every year, Swachhtahi Seva fortnight programme is being celebrated this year too. In this background, this program will be held from September 17th to 2nd October 24. DC also informed that the cleanliness drives this time will be held across the district with the slogan “Swabhav Swachhte, Sanskara Swachhte”.
Speaking on the occasion, Anand Prakash Meena Kodagu Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said that this campaign also facilitates massive public participation and community participation for cleanliness.
ZP CEO further informed that illegal dumping sites are identified everywhere and will be cleaned with community participation and the public will be made aware of this so and added that those who dump waste illegally in public places or throwing waste into stream and ponds will be fined.
Swachh Bharat Mission (Village) District Nodal Officer and District Panchayat Deputy Secretary G. Dhanaraju started the Pledge Ceremony by lighting the lamp.
