Eight held for illegal transportation of timber

Forest department officials have recently arrested eight people for illegally transporting timber in four separate incidents and have registered four cases.

The officials have seized an autorickshaw and a goods vehicle in this connection. Three jackfruit trees belonging to Thimmaiah in Yadavare were being transported by cutting them into logs. The wood has been seized, and two people Yadavare CM Thimayya and Yadavare Ashok Poojary have been arrested.

In a separate incident one Chandrashekhar has been arrested for felling and transporting a Nandi tree from the site belonging to MN Chandrashekhar from Kalkandur village.

In another case, as many as 30 Bilva tree logs were seized at Kovar Kolli junction. The timber was being transported in a goods vehicle. Both the vehicle and the logs have been seized. KM Ibrahim from Karkalli and HG Sujith from Hanagal have been arrested.

During a raid conducted on a furniture unit in Karkalli bane, three people have been arrested for transporting Rosewood logs. P Manikantha from Karkalli, L. Annappa from Janatha Colony and B Ravi from Karkalli Bane have been arrested.

While one of the accused, HE Arun from Hanagal, is absconding, others were produced before the court.
