In association with Kodagu District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Women and Child Development Department, District Legal Service Authority, District Child Protection Unit, Police Department, Education Department, under Mission Shakti Yojana 2024-25 “Beti Padao -Beti Bachao” a district level program was conducted on “World Human Trafficking Day” for construction workers at Shishu Kalyan Bhavanpremises in Madikeri, recently.
Speaking after inaugurating programme Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of District Legal Service Authority, Shubh, said that human trafficking is a problem for common women to lead a normal life in the society. The girl child should be given good free education in the early stages in her life so that she will not be deprived from good education. Speaking further she said that the world is one family according to Shri Krishna Paramatma and added that everyone should live with mutual cooperation and understanding as per the slogan “VasudhaivaKudumbakam”.
Speaking on the occasion Nataraj, Deputy Director, Department of Women and Child Development, who presided over the program and informed that, ‘Human trafficking is selling humans for various purposes’, forcing them to work in forced labour, or working as child labourers in dangerous places, leaving children or elderly people to beg which is dangerous. Human trafficking is done by humans which is tragedy he said and added that they are being sold for different purposes for illegal activities
The chief guest of the program, Siraj, project director of Child Labour Society, informed that the public should be aware these days about Human Trafficking and child labour. Now a days  many programs have been organized for the eradication of child labour and action plans have been formed. Many teams have been formed and they are working hard to eradicate child labour and requested public corporation and awareness.
Kiran, social worker of Child Protection Unit and Prasanna, Executive of Labour Board were present on the occasion. Jayappa, Administrative Assistant, District Legal Service Authority narrated the programme while Keshini S.R. offered the prayer and welcomed the gathering.
