Necessary monsoon precautions should be followed till the end of August… DC

The Kodagu District Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja has informed in video interaction with the department officials recently that southwest monsoon will continue till September 30th in Kodagu district and the officials should be alert till the end of August.

He further said necessary precautions should be taken in the landslide and flood affected areas of the district. Even though the rains are less now, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the coming days. The DC suggested that necessary action should be taken as per the information issued by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) from time to time.

Officers and engineers should give first priority to natural disaster management. Dr Venkat Raja also informed that nodal officers, engineers of various departments, Taluk Panchayat (TP) Executive Officers and Tahsildars should be more vigilant in their respective areas.

The DC also said that during the recent meeting held under the chairmanship of the district in-charge minister, there was a long discussion about the closure of road potholes under the jurisdiction of Public Works, Panchayat Raj and Irrigation Department, and the DC directed the engineers to take immediate action in this regard.

Information regarding potholes and date of pothole closure along with GPS photograph should be submitted by the respective officials and Tahsildars of respective taluks should supervise this DC added. The DC also said that the money will be released to the concerned engineering department.

Speaking on the occasion Deputy Director of School Education and Literacy Department Rangadhamappa informed that the district in-charge minister has advised him to pay attention to the roof condition of the schools.

Kodagu District Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Ramarajan, ZP CEO Anand Prakash Meena, Assistant Commissioner Vinayak Narwade, Additional Deputy Commissioner   R. Aishwarya, various department officials, engineers, TPEOs, Tahsildars,  Madikeri City Municipal Commissioner were present on the occasion.
