Commemoration of 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas at Sainik School

The saga of chivalry and supreme sacrifice by the brave heart soldiers, who fought under the most challenging and adverse conditions during the Operation Vijay in 1999 and their unwavering determination and undying love for the motherland, was commemorated at Sainik School Kodagu to mark the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

WgCdr P Prakash Rao, Administrative Officer and Sqn Ldr Mohammad Shaji, Vice Principal remembered the sacrifices of the martyrs of Kargil War by laying the wreath at the War Memorial. The NCC Officers of JD NCC COY and the Army Personnel of Sainik School Kodagu also paid floral tributes at the memorial.

The commemoration was organised with great pride and fervour to honour the bravery, valour and sacrifices in the service of the nation by the Indian Armed Forces. This significant event marks the 25th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil conflict in 1999 following the culmination of Operation Safed Sagar of the Indian Air Force and Operation Vijay of the Indian Army. It was indeed a significant milestone in the history of military aviation, wherein, air power was successfully employed against targets at such high altitude.

A tree plantation drive was conducted inside the campus under the supervision of Sqn Ldr Mohammad Shaji, Commanding Officer, JD NCC COY SSKG, NCC PI Staff, ANOs and cadets actively took part in the plantation drive.

The Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration at Sainik School Kodagu not only honoured the bravery and sacrifices of the brave soldiers but also reinforced a commitment in the young cadets to uphold the values of courage, dedication and patriotism that define our nation. As our nation looks forward to the future, the rich legacy of our heroes, reminded by this event, will continue to inspire us to protect and serve with an unwavering resolve.
