Landslide in Wayanad… death toll rises to 256

Multiple landslides on Jul 30 have wrecked Mundakkai and Chooralmala of Kerala’s Wayanad district. Conditions on the ground make it extremely tough for the rescue workers to take vehicles and tools like concrete cutters to the site. The army choppers were able to drop food and water by 10:45 am to the site. Currently, 191 people are undergoing treatment in various hospitals. As part of the disaster45 relief camps have been opened. 3,069 people are staying in relief camps. More than 50 houses weredestroyed in the landslide that completely swept away the little town of Mundakkai.
