Hottengada N. Ramesh a senior leader of the BJP party in the district speaking in a press conference recently opined that new MP Yaduvir Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar should take special interest in the comprehensive development of roads in Kodagu, which has been long demand for many decades. Ramesh also said that the people of Kodagu have a lot of hope on the new MP.
Speaking further he said that comprehensive road development in Kodagu, including rural roads, is the biggest demand of the people of the district. Although it has been informed to the people’s representatives for many decades, it has not been fulfilled to the extent expected by the people.Â
The rural roads connecting every village in the district are in a very bad condition and there are many roads that have not seen tarmac for several years and he demanded that the MP should give first priority to develop these roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
In the last Lok Sabha elections, the voters of Kodagu voted for the BJP candidate without being fooled by any guarantee scheme of the state government. The vote share to BJP candidate from Kodagu have increased the margin of victory.
The Congress, which named Nagarhole, a famous sanctuary of the district after Rajiv Gandhi, has not cared at all about the development of the road leading to this sanctuary. He further said that this road should be upgraded by solving legal disputes with the forest department.
BSNL, which was of great use to the people of Kodagu, has completely collapsed in the district, Ramesh said and added that Pratap Simha, who won only in the name of Narendra Modi, completely neglected Kodagu in the development issue.
