Kathmandu: Seventeen year old Cherumandanda Dhyana Dechamma has achieved a remarkable feat by successfully trekking to Everest Base Camp (EBC) in Nepal, reportedly becoming one of the youngest Indian climbers to accomplish the milestone.
Dhyana completed the Everest Base Camp – Legacy Expedition 2026, organised by IAMAS and RRM, held from October 11 to 27, 2026.
Located at an altitude of 5,364 metres (17,598 feet) above sea level, Everest Base Camp presents a formidable challenge to trekkers. The multi-day expedition demands considerable physical endurance and mental resilience, with participants having to contend with freezing temperatures, steep and rugged terrain, and low oxygen levels at high altitudes.
Dechamma is the daughter of Cherumandanda Jayakumar and Anju Jayakumar (née Ammekanda), who reside in Mysore.
