Mysore-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar has assured the people of Kodagu that there is absolutely no need to worry about the Kasturirangan Report, stating that discussions are being held with the Central Government and that the issue will be resolved.

The MP interacted with representatives of various organisations in Madikeri regarding concerns surrounding the Kasturirangan Report and the draft notification.

He said that several more discussions would be held on the draft notification before any final decision is taken.

Yaduveer said that the people of Kodagu have traditionally protected and respected nature and have demonstrated that environmental conservation and human habitation can coexist.

He suggested that, similar to the approach adopted in Kerala, the buffer zone should be kept at 0 km.

He further stressed that residential and agricultural lands should not be included as forest areas.

The MP said that the Central and State Governments should work jointly to address the concerns surrounding the Kasturirangan Report and arrive at a solution that protects both the environment and the interests of the people.
