Environmental Protection and People’s Welfare Must Go Hand in Hand: MP Yaduveer Wodeyar

Mysore-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wodeyar has said that he is in constant discussions with the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to protect the interests of the people of Kodagu in the context of the demarcation of the Western Ghats Eco-Sensitive Area.

He said his office was in regular contact with the Union Ministry to safeguard the rights, livelihoods and properties of the people of Kodagu district in connection with the draft notification on the Western Ghats Eco-Sensitive Area, based on the report of the High-Level Working Group headed by Dr. K. Kasturirangan.

The MP reiterated that every legitimate concern, objection and fact raised by welfare and development associations, local communities, farmers, growers and residents across the district was being systematically recorded and brought to the attention of the Union Ministry.

“Our priority is to ensure that both environmental protection and people’s welfare go hand in hand. The unique geographical and socio-economic realities of Kodagu have been conveyed to the Union Ministry, and we are committed to ensuring that the final notification fully protects the interests of our people,” Yaduveer Wodeyar said.
